Why we
serve.

Core objectives
To become a place where people find their identity in Jesus Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. Ephesians 1:4-5 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10.
When we seek the world's ways and acceptance for our identity, we fall deeper and further away from the truth, the life, and the way of Jesus Christ. Pleasing others and seeking approval based on our looks, achievements, positions, and other worldly ideas is one of the greatest stumbling blocks in confusing our identity. At Formed For Christ Church, we introduce people to Biblical Truth that points to our Creator, the One and Only God, our Heavenly Father, Who formed us before we were born and defines who we are. Through Jesus Christ, we develop and equip people to learn to become more impactful for Jesus' Kingdom by discovering their identity in the living Word of God, recognizing that they are loved, chosen, forgiven, redeemed, and adopted through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Responsibility of Believer: God wants me to be a member of His family.
To become a place where people experience their unity in grace. Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate, be humble. 1 Peter 3:8.
At Formed For Christ Church, we believe that every believer has been gifted by God and called to serve. Discipled believers prepared to fulfill their calling are vital for the kingdom of God to advance effectively within the church and into all the world. We believe it is the responsibility of the church to help believers discover the joy of getting "plugged in" to ministry within the body and experience the joy of serving Christ beyond our walls.
Responsibility of Believer: God wants me to be a messenger of His love.
To become a place where people develop their maturity in faith. "We are not meant to remain as children at the mercy of every chance wind of teaching…But meant to speak the truth in love, and to grow up in every way into Christ, the Head." Ephesians 4:14. Matthew 13:19-23 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18. Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God. Hebrews 6:1.
The ultimate goal of spiritual growth is to become more like Jesus. Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey, and people vary in their receptiveness to and responsiveness to biblical truth. At Formed For Christ Church, we consider (4) four primary categories for receptiveness of believers: hard hearts, shallow hearts, distracted hearts, and receptive hearts. Spiritual receptivity comes and goes in people's lives like the ocean tide. We "plant seeds" and the Holy Spirit works in a person's heart through Scripture and transformation, convicting and changing a believer on the inside as one reads, studies, and meditates on Biblical Truth and in prayer, worship, and relationship with God. At Formed For Christ Church, we educate people on purpose; their Transformation will not happen by chance.
Responsibility of Believer: God wants me to be a model of His character.
To become a place where people commit to their ministry in service. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:43-44. The greatest among you will be your servant. Matthew 23:11. After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:1-2.
Every believer is called to ministry. Our goal at Formed For Christ Church is to turn a congregation into an army for Christ. Our salvation comes from faith, not our work. However, we are called to do good works through our love of God and loving one another.
Responsibility of Believer: God wants me to be a minister of His grace.
To become a place where people magnify God in worship. For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. Matthew 4:10. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:3. As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Job 19:25. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38-39.
At Formed For Christ Church, our definition of worship is: "Worship is expressing our love to God for who He is, what He's said, and what He's doing." We believe there are many appropriate ways to express our love to God. These include praying, singing, thanking, listening, giving, testifying, trusting, obeying His Word, among many others. God, not man, is the focus and center of our worship.
Responsibility of Believer: God wants me to be a magnifier of His name.
